Urban Farm Fermentory – Portland, Maine

UFF_LineupBottlesI have seen these unique little cidah bottles with the stark black and white labels around for a while and have tried all the ones I have found in stores and they were all enjoyable ciders that were unique and different from most other ciders you find – not a product of industrial factories, real cider made by real people.

The more I looked into the Portland, Maine based Urban Farm Fermentory the more I knew it was a place I had to check out! If you like original artisan style ciders, you should put this on your list of places to visit – great ciders from great people. At the cider/kombucha production facility you can sample all the current flavors and blending flavors is encouraged. We left with a  growler of ginger beet kombucha and a few ciders we haven’t seen in stores.

We came here thinking we were not fans of kombucha and their product absolutely blew us away, if you stop in for the cidah you need to check out the kombucha! it is really unlike any kombucha i have had in the past and not like any of the commercial grocery store varieties i have tried.

The UFF cider line up:

Dry Cidah – 6.8% ABV
Our flagship dry is brewed using 100% fresh pressed Maine apples. We use wild Maine yeast to ferment this classic, which has varied levels of funk depending on the batch it came from. Crisp, tart, acidic, and refreshing, this is the definition of Maine terroir.

Hopped Cidah – 6.8% ABV
Conditioned on cascade hops, this dry cidah has a healthy amount of citrusy hoppyness making the IPA drinkers grin uncontrollably when discovering this brew.

Sour Cidah – 5% ABV
The newest addition to our lineup combines cidah with our famous unadultured kombucha. This drink is for those that are looking for a cider with meaning behind it. We are happy to say this is the only kombucha hard cider available around the world.

Baby Jimmy – 6.8% ABV
This bourbon barrel aged cidah always makes waves at festivals for its complex oaky, funky notes that flip peoples perception of what hard cider can be. A nod to it’s father Jim Beam vessel, Baby Jimmy is always a special occasion.

Dickson Cidah – 6.8% ABV
This dry cidah is hopped with fresh Maine cascade hops from the backyard of Great Lost Bear bar manager Mike Dickson. It’s fresh floral notes are unforgettable and make for a treat around Halloween.

Arlo – 6.8% ABV
This reminder of Maine fall is our single varietal Golden Delicious cidah. The sweetest of our cidah lineup is named appropriately after Eli’s son.
