Restaurant Hearth NYC

drinkingcider_hearthsignWhile this is not a full-on cider pub, Restaurant Hearth is a New  York City East Village destination favored by farm-to -table diners and cider drinking fans alike with over a dozen international ciders on their wine list and an eclectic wine and beer list. Chef/owner Marco Canora’s menu is rooted in the modern traditions of the American kitchen with Italian influences – classical dishes that are given a contemporary spin. The ingredients used speak for themselves in an uncontrived manor. Restaurant Hearth’s wine (including the available cider, mead and beer choices) program finds inspiration in the strangest places. Be sure to try the cider donuts!

During CiderWeek NYC Hearth hosted the “Meet the Producers” cider dinner with cider makers from Farnum Hill, Eve’s Cidery, and Eden Ice Cider – each had a cider paired with a course of the meal.

Some of the featured ciders include: Doc’s Draft Hard Apple Cider (NY), Orchard Hill Red Label (NY) Farnum Hill Extra Dry Sparkling (NH), Original Sin Newtown Pippin (OR), Etienne Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut du Normandie (France), Christian Drouin Cidre Pays d’Auge (Normandy, France), Oliver’s Cider & Perry Traditional Cider (Herefordshire, England), Freyeisen Traditional Apfelwien (Germany), Weidman & Groh Cydonia Apfelpertlwein (Germany), Sarasola Sydre Natural Apple Cider (Basque Region, Spain), Sidra Menendez Val d’Ornon (Asturias), Eden Ice Cider Northern Spy (VT) – also of note is their mead selection.
