Far From The Tree – Nova

Nova is Salem, Mass cidermaker Far From The Tree‘s first canned cider, and is packaged in beautiful 16 ounce tallboy cans. Nova is an off-dry, hopped cider made with Massachusetts Mcintosh apples. In the beer world, New England has a reputation for making world class, super juicey, fresh, hop-forward IPAs, and this cider feels like a cider taking part in this New England turbid hoppy IPA deliciousness.

Upon popping up the can you are overcome with super fresh aromas of tropical fruits; grapefruit, lemon, passionfruit, sweet eating apples, papaya with subtle hop pine notes and green grassyness – easy to take in and enjoy this ciders aromas.

I was surprised at the pour – Nova is a bright pale yellow – was thinking it may have been more like the cloudy New England IPAs. Nice carbonation levels. Falling on the sweet side of off-dry, with some mild tartness. Well balanced acidity and sweetness. Pleasant sweet fruitiness lingers long after drinking. Even at 8% abv this is a super refreshing and drinkable hopped cider that your New England hophead friends will definitely appreciate.

For me, Nova would be delicious sipped with spicy Asian fare like Pad Thai, Mapo Doufu or something from General Tso or while tending to the grills at an outdoor BBQ on a nice sunny day.
